Theme of the Week: How The Impossible Happened

If you were to make a list of all the things that you think are impossible, what would be in it?
Your answers would probably depend on your personal experiences or that of others. As humans, we see, hear and experience things (good or bad) that shape the way we view the world and its possibilities.
There is one thing that no one, no matter their personal experiences, would have thought possible centuries ago, but it still happened. Here’s how the Bible announced it, through a promise about deliverance for God’s people, given by prophet Isaiah:
“Say to the fainthearted: Take courage, and fear not: behold your God will bring the revenge of recompense: God himself will come and will save you. Then shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.” (Isaiah 35:4-5, DRA)
The transcendent Creator of humankind became a human being, himself — not just taking a man’s appearance, but fully becoming one through natural birth. It sounds impossible, yet that’s exactly what he did. Although many people today still doubt or have no clue that it actually happened, millions around the world have personally experienced God’s love and salvation through Jesus Christ. And in the next few days, we will celebrate his miraculous birth.
As you prepare to spend the Christmas holidays with loved ones, even in the context of the pandemic, be reminded that the reason for the season is that God pulled off the impossible so that all of humanity could have something worth celebrating.
