Jesus is Our Model

Theme of the Week: Following Christ’s Example

Bible Verse: “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.” 1 Peter 2:21

When I was in grade 7, I had landed the perfect role in our Christmas Play.

I was selected to be Tiny Tim, from A Christmas Carol.

I had one line and boy did I practice that thing a lot. I remember watching every rendition of A Christmas Carol in hopes of finding a Tiny Tim to replicate.

To be like Tiny Tim, I needed to see, hear and understand who he was.

How true is that of our relationship with Jesus? What if Jesus isn’t just our Lord & Savior but also our model to follow? After all, we are called to be his disciples or apprentices, right?

The more we study and understand God’s word, the more we can become like Jesus.

Peter wrote, “to this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”

Following Jesus steps even in suffering? Yikes!

Well, this week, we will be looking at a few areas within Scripture that will help us in becoming more like Jesus. He is our example, that we must follow.
