Theme of the Week: Making the Most of Vacations
Bible Verse: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1
We were supposed to leave by lunchtime. We left around dinner. When we arrived, I set up the tent in the dark and the rain.
Vacations.
I’ve had some good ones, but I’ve had some challenging ones too. It doesn’t help that everyone on Instagram seems to have the time of their lives while I’m getting eaten by mosquitos.
Vacations can be challenging. It’s important to remember the ultimate purpose of vacations. It’s not to escape work or to spend time with family as we’re going to see, both of those matter too. But to vacation properly, we must keep our eye on the ultimate purpose of our vacation.
The ultimate purpose of a vacation is to glorify God.
Vacation may be an escape from most of our responsibilities. On vacation, it’s a good idea to shut off the email, stop answering the work phone, and leave our work responsibilities behind.
It’s also a time to lean in on our relationship with God and to find in Him what we need.
Be sure to take a vacation from your work, but we never take a break from glorifying God.
