Theme of the Week: Expectant Hope
Bible Verse: “For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

This week we continue the theme of the Advent Conspiracy.
Advent means ‘Coming’ in Latin. It celebrates the coming of Jesus into the world. Christians use these weeks to prepare and remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Advent Conspiracy is a movement that began in 2006 in an effort to disrupt the hyper-consumerism in culture.
The rapidly growing narrative of culture today is to remove Jesus from Christmas. The Christmas tree is called a holiday tree, Yard signs and car stickers read “put Christ back in Christmas” and advertising bombards us with messages of spend, spend, spend.
The Advent Conspiracy is based on 4 tenants – Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, Love All. Concepts that certainly go against the world’s rapidly growing narrative.
This week we’ll continue to unpack the Advent Conspiracy.
- Slow down, in the midst of the hustle of Christmas and take time to worship Jesus, Jesus is God with us. He is the hope of this very broken world.
- Trust God’s promises. Worship Him in the midst of unfinished stories and unfulfilled promises and trust that God has the answers.
- Jesus’ coming isn’t something to be kept secret. We’re called to go and preach the gospel and tell everyone about the coming of Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas
