Theme of the Week: DEFCON
Bible Verse: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:10-20
In DEFCON 3, we saw an elevation in readiness. Here in DEFCON 2, we are putting on the armor of God and getting ready for battle.
What stood out to me and should to you is we are instructed to put on the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD so we may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Do you wear the whole armor of God?
- Belt of Truth
- Breastplate of Righteousness
- Shoes of peace
- Shield of Faith
- Helmet of Salvation
- Sword of the Spirit
I don’t know about you, but I never seem to have all my gear on at the same time. But I’m called to have it all on to be ready for battle, or I will be vulnerable to spiritual attacks. Attention toward God and His Word will help me put on the whole armor and stand against the evil one. As I spend time in the Word of God, I begin to put on the full armor; when I don’t spend time in the Word, I seem to take it off.
Like Peter walking on water, if he would have just kept his eyes on Jesus, the water wouldn’t have been a problem. As soon as he took his focus off of Jesus, he began to sink.
What a glorious sight it would be for a world of Christians in the full armor of God and in His service. I guess that is reserved for the heavenly realm, but it sure is nice to think about it.
Do you have on the full armor of God?
If not, what do you need to start doing to be ready for battle?
I challenge you to take some time and go through each part of the armor and identify if you are wearing it at this moment or not. If not, what can you do to put on that part?
