God’s Great Plan

In Daily Devotional by Paul Jolicoeur

Bible Verse: “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-18 NIV

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:20-27; Ephesians 2; Ephesians 4:11-12

God’s plan was to build the Church using people united in Him. Believers living in a community united by the blood of Jesus are a safeguard for the believer and a testimony to the unbeliever.

Living in community within your local church is a two-way street.

You want a group of men you can lean on when needed.

However, you must be engaged and available for those who need you, too.

The local church is God’s gift to the believer because He knew we could not do this alone.

The local church is so important because it is the community of believers we can physically engage with each day of our lives.

The Lord instituted the local church as a place for the edification of the believer and the preaching of the Word to the lost.

When a believer attempts to go at it alone as a lone ranger, you stunt your personal growth and starve the church of your gifts and talents.

We need each other; we are all members of the same Body.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the local church; thank You that I have a place in the church both for my edification and the use of my gifts. Help me to play my part in Your Body. Amen

Reflection: Is there a way that you can better engage with your church?
