Theme of the Week: The One Who Will Never Fail
Bible Verse: “The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you” Jeremiah 31:3, CSB
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:31-39
I have never separated a shoulder, a knee, an ankle, or dislocated a finger or, really, any joint on my body. I haven’t broken or fractured any bones either. Considering how many sports I have played, I’ve been very fortunate. But I have seen my teammates experience injury. It’s always an unpleasant scene.
It was waiting at the hospital that was the hardest for my friends. If the emergency department was overrun with other patients, your patience would be tested. The pain, the waiting, and then finally, your name is called to see a doctor – you’re in the home stretch. Off you go for X-rays and assessments. Eventually, you are prescribed the necessary medical procedures to treat the issue in your body which, ultimately, brings what was separated or broken back together.
The pain and shame of sin entering the world, recorded in the book of Genesis, created that separation between God and mankind. For thousands of years, man waited for that broken relationship to be restored. Read through the stories of the Old Testament, and you’ll see the pain and discomfort of separation and brokenness was recorded time and time again for generations. But then Jesus changed everything! He made a way for man and God to be reconciled through him.
Nothing – no thing – can separate you from the love of God, Paul writes, for those who are in Christ Jesus. I want to remind you today, there is no mistake, no choice, no past, no sin, no thought — in fact, there is no thing that can separate you anymore from God. Maybe you know Jesus, but you’re wondering: Why is there still distance at times between me and God? Is there still a sense of guilt and shame? Those things can’t keep you from his love. If you don’t know Jesus today, what are you waiting for? You don’t have to be separated any longer from the love of God! Don’t live with distance between you and God. Bring everything to him, because you will always find love and acceptance in a relationship with him.
