Theme of the Week: The God Who Is There
Bible Verse: “I had heard reports about you, but now my eyes have seen you.” Job 42:5
Scripture Reading: Job 42:1-6
There is a difference between knowing about God and experiencing the reality of God. We need to know the truths about who God is in order to better experience the realities of God in our everyday life. In Job 42, Job describes this difference as having heard reports about God, but now his eyes have seen him.
Throughout this week, we have not lonely looked more at the God who is there – bigger and greater than our minds can imagine – but also how this truth impacts our everyday life.
All things were created by him, and for him.
You and I were not made for our own dreams to be the center of our existence. As his image-bearers, we were created to reflect him – to give all of creation a glimpse of what God is like. He was always meant to be the center of the story and not us.
He holds all things together.
There may be times when your world is spinning apart, but you can rest assured that the providence of God shows he is already at work for something good that you cannot see today.
He is everywhere.
Because he is everywhere, you can trust him to lead you down the right path. He never loses sight of the forest through the trees.
He knows everything.
His knowledge, or understanding, is infinite! He knows the past, the present, and the future. Nothing catches God by surprise.
He is all-powerful.
The proper response, when we realize we are not truly powerful, is to turn our eyes to worship the One who is all-powerful and take a breath – because he is good and he is in charge.
I want to encourage you to pray the words of Job today – that you will not only hear reports about God, but you will see him for who he really is. He is almighty God – and he loves you.
