On The Right Track

Theme of the Week: Stand Strong

Bible Verse: You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4 ESV

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 13:1-18, James 4:7

Rodel had never been to Alaska. So when some buddies invited him to go elk hunting in the Last Frontier, he jumped at the chance. Freshly fallen snow greeted him on the first morning of his hunt. Everybody decided to split up and meet later. Almost immediately, Rodel found elk tracks. He followed them for what seemed like miles. Growing tired, he decided to head to the rendezvous point. He arrived first, but soon one of his hunting buddies found him. “Did you see it?” the friend asked. “No, but I followed the elk tracks for miles,” Rodel answered. “No, not the elk,” his friend said. “There was a bear following your tracks.”

As Christians, we’re called to follow Christ. Deuteronomy 13:4 commands us to follow, worship, and remain faithful to the Lord. But as we focus on our goal to follow in Christ’s tracks, we can’t lose sight of the fact that we’re being watched as well. Satan is more dangerous than any bear. Scripture compares him to a lion waiting to devour us (1 Peter 5:8). He wants to get us off God’s path and render us ineffective for the Kingdom. He’ll stop at nothing to hinder our progress. As Christ followers, we need to remain focused.

Follow God, but be alert to an enemy who wants to get you off track.

Think of two things you can do to stay more on track for Christ.
