The Ultimate Restoration Project

In Daily Devotional by Paul Jolicoeur

Theme of the Week: Grace

Bible Verse: In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. Ephesians 1:7-8a NLT

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:17-26

Yesterday, we noted that grace started with God the Father before the beginning of time, well before we had a chance to earn it.

We also saw that grace is always in the context of relationships. The grace Jesus extends to us is the gift of eternal life through the forgiveness of our sins so that we can be redeemed to the Father and live in unity with Him.

It was Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross; his blood poured out that makes way for us to be made right with God the father.

Maybe that is why Jesus told us to celebrate communion “in remembrance of me.” This way, His sacrifice on the cross isn’t ever far from our memory.

Maybe it was Jesus’s blood – the perfect riches of God that were lavished on sinners – that John Newton was thinking of in 1772 when he penned the lyrics to Amazing Grace:

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now I’m found;
Was blind, but now I see.

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for forgiving my sins through your blood. Today I gladly receive your grace.

Reflection: Is there anything in your life that is preventing you from fully receiving God’s free gift? Find someone you can speak with; if no one’s name comes to mind, touch base with your pastor. They would love to chat with you.
