Theme of the Week: Why Did God Create Me?
Bible Verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13, NKJV
Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:4-13; Judges 13:1-7
Strong is what you are. You are, in fact, way stronger than you may realize, and today is a good time for a show of strength.
When we think of strong men, biblical figures like Samson often come to mind. He was gifted by God with extraordinary strength for the purpose of delivering the people of Israel from the Philistines. He was so strong that none of his enemies could tame him. They tried to, repeatedly, but kept failing… until they found the weakness that led them to discover Samson’s “secret.” One lesson that we can learn from his story is that very few of our problems can be fixed with a display of physical strength, even if it’s supernatural.
Another biblical figure’s life, the apostle Paul’s, teaches us that true strength has not much to do with muscles. He experienced hardship and faced intense persecutions at the hands of people who did everything in their power to destroy the cause of the Gospel… and they failed. Just like Samson, Paul received extraordinary strength from God, but it was not physical. The strength that he received allowed him to be content in any and every situation. That’s why he could say, “I can do all things!”. He attributed this to Christ.
There is another person who has received great strength: You! Whether you are facing temptation, disappointment, financial troubles, marital challenges, tribulation or spiritual attacks… whatever it is, the Lord is your strength, and he is more than able to see you through.
